Beyond Routine Compliance

Complex Accounting Services for Businesses with More Challenging Needs

Complex transactions, historic bookkeeping problems, director balances, cash-flow pressures, changing business structures and multi-entity arrangements can require a deeper review of the underlying records. ATA works with owner-managed businesses, limited companies, property businesses and growing SMEs across London and the UK to understand the position first, identify the accounting and tax issues involved and establish a practical way forward.

Areas of Support

Accounting and advisory support beyond routine compliance

Our complex accounting services are designed for assignments where the financial position requires investigation, professional judgement, reconstruction, modelling or a more detailed review than would normally be included within standard bookkeeping and year-end compliance work.

Complex Accounting Reviews

Where the accounting position is unclear, ATA can review the underlying transactions and records before defining the appropriate scope, accounting treatment and next steps.

Our Approach

We assess the position before recommending the solution

Complex accounting matters cannot always be accurately priced or resolved from an initial email or telephone conversation.

We first establish what has happened, what records are available, the potential accounting or tax implications and the extent of the work required.

Once the position is sufficiently understood, ATA can define the scope of work and provide an appropriate fee proposal.

01
Understand the issue We establish the background, the problem and the client’s desired outcome.
02
Review the records We determine what information and supporting documents are available.
03
Assess the scope and risks We identify the work required and whether additional specialist input may be needed.
04
Provide a proposal We confirm the proposed scope and pricing basis before proceeding.
Working With ATA

From accounting problem to structured resolution

The objective is to understand the underlying accounting issue rather than simply treat the symptoms appearing in the accounts.

Stage 1

Initial Discussion

Tell us what has happened, what concerns you have and what outcome you are trying to achieve.

Stage 2

Accounting Review

We assess the available records, transactions and areas requiring further investigation.

Stage 3

Scope & Fee

We confirm what ATA can undertake, the likely complexity and the proposed pricing basis.

Stage 4

Implementation

We complete the agreed work and help establish a clearer and more reliable accounting position going forward.

£
Pricing & Scope

Complex assignments are priced individually

Advisory and complex accounting assignments are priced according to the nature, complexity, urgency and scope of the work involved. Unlike routine compliance work, some assignments may require additional investigation, technical analysis, reconstruction of accounting records or input from other specialist professional advisers.

Where specialist legal, tax, insolvency, valuation or other professional advice is required, this may increase the overall cost of the assignment. ATA will aim to identify the need for such specialist input as early as reasonably possible.

Before substantial work is undertaken, we will discuss the issues identified with you, including the potential risks, expected benefits, available options and likely scope of the work.

Where possible, we will provide a clear fee or agreed pricing basis before proceeding. If the scope changes, further investigation becomes necessary or additional specialist input is required, this will be discussed with you before material additional work is undertaken.

Client approval comes first. ATA will not normally undertake material additional work outside the agreed scope without discussing it with the client and obtaining approval to proceed.

Working with specialist advisers where required

Certain assignments may involve matters requiring legal, insolvency, regulated financial, valuation or highly specialist tax advice. Where appropriate, ATA can identify the accounting implications, prepare the relevant financial information and work alongside the client’s legal, tax or other professional advisers.
