More than a business. More than a balance sheet.
You measure success in lives improved. We help you understand the numbers behind that impact.
A Community Interest Company balances the day-to-day realities of running a company with a commitment to community benefit. Both deserve careful financial oversight.
At Accounting & Tax Associates, we bring accounting discipline to purpose-led organisations: accurate records, clear reporting, timely compliance and straightforward conversations when decisions matter.
Financial foundations for meaningful work.
From your first financial year to a more established operation, choose the support your CIC actually needs.

Grant & project tracking

Management reporting
Clear budgets, cash flow visibility and financial information to support responsible decisions by your directors.
One extra report. A bigger story to tell.
A CIC’s annual accounts do not tell the whole story. Directors also prepare a Community Interest Company report (form CIC34) explaining how the company has served its community. The CIC Regulator’s guidance explains these reporting duties.
We can help you organise the financial information and reporting process, while your directors provide and approve the narrative of the CIC’s activities and impact.
- Annual accounts and the CIC34 report filed together
- Community benefit and stakeholder engagement information
- Relevant directors’ remuneration and asset-transfer disclosures
- Support with organising records before the filing deadline
Directors remain responsible for the accuracy and approval of the report and accounts. The CIC34 filing fee is separate from ATA’s professional fee. See the official CIC filing process and current fee.

Clarity starts with the right questions.
A few important differences every CIC director should understand.
Does a CIC need to file annual accounts?
Yes. CICs must prepare and file annual accounts with Companies House, including where the company is dormant. The precise accounts requirements depend on the company’s circumstances and size.
What is the CIC34 report?
It is the annual community interest report filed with a CIC’s accounts. It explains, among other things, the CIC’s community-benefit activities, stakeholder engagement and relevant disclosures.
Is a CIC exempt from Corporation Tax?
No. CIC status does not automatically give a company charity tax reliefs or a general Corporation Tax exemption. Tax treatment depends on the company’s income and activities, and returns may be required.
Can a CIC receive grants and still trade?
Yes. CICs can undertake trading activities and may receive grants subject to the funder’s eligibility rules. Different income streams should be recorded appropriately, and VAT and Corporation Tax consequences considered where relevant.
Can ATA help an existing CIC change accountants?
Yes. We can review the current bookkeeping and reporting position, discuss any outstanding filings and agree a proportionate handover and ongoing scope.
Do you work with CICs outside London?
Yes. ATA is an online UK accountancy practice, supporting clients remotely across the country.
You focus on the difference.
